It’s been 2 years today since I started Washoku Lovers on March 9th in 2015! Happy Birthday Washoku Lovers!

My passion to introduce Japanese food culture to all my friends is getting bigger and bigger. I’m always excited to see how many people sign-up to Washoku Lovers, what Washoku Lovers benefits you like and how frequently you return to use them… every day. Because you all are very important to Washoku Lovers.  I would like to give you all more things to look forward to in the year ahead, Japanese cooking classes, introducing our beverage culture (sake especially!) and of course introducing more Japanese restaurants in all of Australia!

WASHOKU = Japanese Food Culture

I believe that many of my friends get know ‘Japan’ through Japanese foods such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, sukiyaki and wagashi (Japanese sweets). Washoku Lovers’s aim is to introduce Japanese food at our selected restaurants and encourage you all to cook washoku at home.

We have met a lot of chefs in this year, asking them what they think about using Japanese ingredients outside of Japan. Even non-Japanese chefs are thankfully very interested in Japanese inspired dishes. We all know that the most important thing for them is to be successful in their business but also make their customers happy through food. Washoku Lovers are supporting these chefs and we’ll let you all know where you can visit for the best Japanese food.

On the other hand, organising regular cooking classes at Washoku Lovers Kitchen is the best way to engage all members who have the motivation to learn Washoku – not just eating out but also wanting to cook it at home. We asked for their requests through the surveys after the classes and have made plans to provide more interesting classes. I’m always impressed to see many people who join our classes have been to Japan at least once and some people use Japanese words (even simple ones!) to show us their appreciation. Communicating with them is always a pleasure and I can feel a strong connection over Japanese food culture. Thank you all for joining us. If you are not a member / subscriber yet, please sign up from here.

And of course, I am not the only person who built this amazing community. I am very fortunate to have all of my super talented and thoughtful staff, Kayla-chan, Kanako-sensei, Ayano-chan, Aya-chan, and web professionals, Sawada-san, Motoki-kun, Akira-san, Ryoske-san and Junya-san. And Hideo Dekura who is my mentor, my teacher and my father in Australia. Washoku Lovers is not here without you all.

In the following year, we will be excited to announce the new service! Please keep an eye open 🙂

Once again, thank you all for the great support. Please leave your comments if you have any feedback for us.

Thank you!
